Ano ang kinaluwasan?
By Ely Cirujales
So mga
madarahon nanginot tolos na mag-alsa kan saindang
harong pasiring diyan sa Mountain View dahil sa perak
na itinao kan gobierno. Pero pakatapos nin perang
taon nagbaraba man giraray dahil dai man pinakarhay
kan gobierno so kalsada. Sagkod ngunian hilinga nindo
an kamugtakan kan agihan diyan sa Mountain View ta
dugi man giraray kung mina-uran.

So mga hornal nakatrabaho man kuta sa
primero sana. Dai man puedeng mag-opisina ta dai man
baya nag-aradal. An nakapuesto sa opisina harali sa
ibang lupalop na lugar bako man so mga taga Tiwi.

Hilinga na baya nindo an palibot kan Tiwi. Haen na so
paros.

tawo. So daing pagmakulog kan maabot pang henerasyon
ano ang pig-gigibo? Bakong pigkastahan pagkuryenteha
an mga sira sa salog, pigbomba an sira sa dagat,
pig-ulaan ki hudong so salog, pigpurutol so mga kahoy,
pigtapukan ki ati so kanal. Kung sisiwayon mo
sisimbagon ka pa ki daing data. Magkaorag ka lamang.

Pero an mas lalong pinakadaingdatang nangyayari
sa baryo mahiling mo an mga addict. Parang dai nang
pag-asa an maabot na henerasyon.

Ano magtiringara na sana an iyaon sa munisipyo? Ano
an aki ninda addict?

Kaya hapoton ta daw an satuyang mga sadiri kung saro
man sana

OF OTHER THINGS
By Fr. V. Competente

Dear Mr. Catalino Cope:
I wish to thank you for publishing my article originally intended for the Souvenir Program of the TiwinionsUSA Fiesta Celebration on August 10-11, 2001 at Medina, Ohio. As many readers noted, it was a stark contrast to the approach of your online magazine. But seeing it published, I concluded that both of us have one thing in common: a prophetic mission. The difference is in the dressing. Your are like John the Baptist who could call the religious and civil authorities of his time "Brood of Vipers"(Lk 3:7). I am like the Master who would skirt the Samaritan towns instead of listening to James and John to call down fire from heaven because they wouldn't receive them (Lk 9:51-56).

"Truth shall make you free." Free from what? From fear, intimidation, torture? Free from hunger, pain, or suffering? Free to satisfy one's cravings for sex, drugs or alcohol? Free to keep silent in the face of evil? Free to grab ownership of land? Free to choose even the most corrupt of politicians? Free to buy or sell votes? Free to slander? Free to win an election at whatever cost? Free to threaten or expel the prophets of our time? What is that truth which makes us free to do such things?

May naghapot kun may permiso ka daa sako in publishing my resume. I said, "No, it is already a public property since it was published in the souvenir of my installation as Pastor of Joroan." I lasted only nine months in Joroan, though.
The politicians of Joroan knew better. Led by the Kagawad and the Kapitana, Joroan booted me out. "No prophet is without honor except in his own country, among his own townspeople, or in his own household." (Mk 6:4)
But I left the parish of Joroan with a new church, a new rectory, 23 toilets for pilgrims, a leveled patio (thanks to Chap and Zeny Padilla-Lee of Daraga who donated more that 900 truckloads of filling materials), a water supply system for the church (thanks to Cillan Family of Joroan), a paved road around the church (courtesy of Congressman Edcel Lagman and David Beato). Through this web page, I wish to thank them all. Thanks too for the picture you published.
I wish also to express my heartfelt thanks to the people of Albay and all the devotees who helped with their donations when the image of our Lady of Salvation visited all the parishes of the Diocese of Legazpi. Money just kept flowing in when we were rebuilding the physical plant of the parish. I am thankful most especially to the Bishop, the Most Rev. Jose C. Sorra, for all his support while we were reconstructing the parish of Joroan.
It is exactly seven years this August since all these things happened in the parish where I was "born again in water and the Holy Spirit". God knows I tried to be a prophet in my own country. This chapter in my priestly life will be closed this year when I am formally be incardinated into the Archdiocese of New York by December 2001.
I wish you good luck with your online magazine. Continue to be a prophet. You can be anyone else in Tiwi who has the welfare of our town at heart. Rest assured you have my prayers and support. God bless.
Fr. Veying.
